Claire Grant

Claire Grant has practiced at the bar in Queensland since 2011. She practices in criminal law at trial and appellate level across the broad gamut of all sub-categories of the criminal law.  Claire is an effective and experienced advocate who regularly appears in courts all over Queensland.

In addition to her extensive practice in criminal law, Claire also appears in regulatory matters including environmental/mining prosecutions and in professional disciplinary proceedings.

Claire also appears in inquests and inquiries. In recent times, Claire has appeared as both counsel assisting and as counsel for interested parties in many of Queensland’s most notable inquests/inquiries. Claire has a particular interest in appearing in inquests and inquiries that involve hospitals and health services and/or medical professionals where the topics probe expert medical evidence.

Claire also accepts briefs to appear in domestic violence proceedings.

Claire is a member of the North Queensland Bar Association and the Melbourne Cricket Club. Claire is a director and board member of Hemmants List and the Cathedral School (Townsville). Claire is an advisor and ladder mentor for the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland.

Claire is a recommended junior counsel in criminal law for Queensland in Doyles Guide (2022, 2023).
